1. Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to provide Refynd and keep it working well for you.
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and basic profile details, along with authentication data needed to sign you in.
Content you save
When you save a bookmark, we collect the URL and the content of the page you save, together with the highlights, notes, tags, and boards you create. This is the core data Refynd exists to store and organize for you.
Payment information
If you buy a paid plan, our payment provider (or Apple, for in-app purchases) processes your payment. We receive limited details such as a transaction confirmation and subscription status; we do not store full card numbers.
Usage and device information
We collect basic usage and device information — such as app version, browser type, general device characteristics, and diagnostic logs — to operate the Service, fix problems, and improve performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
- store, tag, summarize, sync, and search the bookmarks you save;
- process subscriptions and send service-related messages;
- respond to your requests and provide customer support; and
- understand how the Service is used so we can improve it and prevent abuse.
3. AI Processing of Your Content
To power features such as auto-tagging, smart sorting, reader view, and summaries, we process the content of pages you save using automated and machine-learning systems. This processing is done to deliver these features to you. We do not sell your content, and we do not use the private content you save to train third-party advertising models.
4. Google User Data
Refynd’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. If you connect a Google sign-in or save content from Google services, we use that access only to provide and improve user-facing features of Refynd, and we do not transfer or use the data for advertising or other unrelated purposes.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers (such as hosting and payment processors) who process it on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- when required by law or to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Refynd and its users; and
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect your information consistent with this Policy.
6. Data Retention & Deleting Your Account
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete individual bookmarks at any time, or delete your entire account from your settings or by emailing [email protected]. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app, or contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly if an issue arises.
9. International Transfers
Refynd is based in the United States, and we may process and store your information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection when it is transferred across borders.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, email us at [email protected].
